Nine Inch Nails’ Future Ruins Festival Cancelled Weeks Before Launch

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were set to debut a groundbreaking fusion of live music and cinema in Los Angeles this November. Now, with just weeks to go, the entire event has been scrapped due to “logistical challenges.”

Future Ruins Head Line

Future Ruins was supposed to be Nine Inch Nails’ first-ever curated festival, scheduled for November 8 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. The main attraction? A rare live performance by Reznor and longtime collaborator Atticus Ross, featuring material from their iconic film scores: The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Empire of Light, and more.

The lineup was stacked with legends across film and music: Danny Elfman, John Carpenter, Questlove, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Goblin were all confirmed. The concept was ambitious — a multi-sensory, genre-bending celebration of sound and image.

But now, it’s off. According to the official statement, “a number of logistical challenges and other issues” made it impossible to deliver the experience they envisioned. The organizers chose to cancel rather than compromise.

Refunds will be automatically processed, and ticket holders will receive further info via email.

Future Ruins had the potential to be a genre-defining event — a festival where cinematic scores took center stage, with some of the most visionary names behind the soundtrack of modern life. That kind of ambition is rare. But it also demands heavy-duty planning behind the scenes. This time, the vision ran ahead of the logistics.

Let’s hope the idea isn’t dead — just postponed until it can truly deliver what it promised.
