Nitrolack Paints: Everything You Need to Know

In the world of musical instruments, the quality of a guitar’s finish plays a crucial role in both aesthetics and performance. Nitorlack, a specialized line of guitar varnishes from Valresa Coatings S.A., has become a global benchmark for high-quality finishing products. But how did this brand come to life?

When and Why Was Nitorlack Born?

Nitorlack was established in early 2011 when Fender approached the Mexican subsidiary of Valresa Coatings with a request: to develop a high-quality nitrocellulose lacquer with specialized characteristics for its guitars. This collaboration sparked an extensive research and development process, allowing us to gain in-depth knowledge of the essential properties that guitar varnishes should possess.

Throughout this journey, we also studied and mastered the iconic colors of the era, along with the finishing techniques used by leading guitar manufacturers in the 1950s and 1960s.

With over 50 years of experience in wood coatings, Valresa Coatings combined its expertise with this newfound knowledge in musical instrument finishes.

The result? A brand and a dedicated team focused exclusively on high-performance varnishes for musical instruments: Nitorlack Guitar Coatings.
