Lee<\/a> eras, with <em>I Don&#8217;t Know<\/em>, <em>Bark at the Moon<\/em>, and <em>Crazy Train<\/em> merged into one pinch-harmonic ravished medley.<\/p>\n<aside data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\" class=\"hawk-base\" \/>\n<p>In a shock to no-one, Bettencourt&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/features\/the-50-greatest-guitar-solos-of-all-time\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/features\/the-50-greatest-guitar-solos-of-all-time\">soloing<\/a> chops are as superlative as ever, and it\u2019s clear he\u2019s loving every second of the spot. <em>Crazy Train<\/em> is kept extremely faithful to the original, but with a searing and signature <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/features\/18-ways-to-improve-your-guitar-tone\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/features\/18-ways-to-improve-your-guitar-tone\">guitar tone<\/a> that screams Bettencourt even when the notes don\u2019t. Other moments were toyed with far more.<\/p>\n<aside data-component-name=\"Recirculation:ArticleRiver\" data-nosnippet=\"\" class=\"clear-both pt-3 pb-4 mb-4 border-solid border-y border-neutral-300\"><span class=\"font-article-heading block pb-3 !text-base font-bold uppercase sm:text-sm text-[#333]\">You may like<\/span><\/aside>\n<p>Many had expected Jake E. Lee to mark his <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/artists\/guitarists\/jake-e-lee-bark-at-the-moon-back-to-the-beginning\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/artists\/guitarists\/jake-e-lee-bark-at-the-moon-back-to-the-beginning\">first show by Ozzy\u2019s side in nearly 40 years by playing his biggest hit<\/a>, <em>Bark at the Moon<\/em>. However, health issues forced him to pivot to plan B, and Bettencourt, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/artists\/guitarists\/nuno-bettencourt-back-to-the-beginning-mystery-guitar\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/artists\/guitarists\/nuno-bettencourt-back-to-the-beginning-mystery-guitar\">wielding a mysterious new guitar<\/a>, took the honor of playing the song\u2019s pyrotechnic leads.<\/p>\n<p>At the X-TRA House of Music, <em>Bark at the Moon<\/em> made a return with a transition out of<em> I Don\u2019t Know <\/em>so buttery smooth it takes a minute for Bettencourt\u2019s genius to land with some factions of the audience. His soloing across those two tracks is a little less scripted; his fire and flair weaves into Lee and Rhoads\u2019 licks sensationally well. The energy of the performance is palpable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love you, Ozzy!\u201d bellows vocalist Gary Cherone at the end of the set, after his bandmate had sneaked in a little taste of the <em>Iron Man <\/em>riff.<\/p>\n<p>It sees Bettencourt continuing a tradition of honoring the dead with shred, having previously said <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/news\/nuno-bettencourt-extreme-cover-mean-street-2024\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/news\/nuno-bettencourt-extreme-cover-mean-street-2024\">he feels responsible for keeping Eddie Van Halen\u2019s flame alive<\/a>. He\u2019s done that by covering <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/tag\/van-halen\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/tag\/van-halen\">Van Halen<\/a> classics on <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/news\/nuno-bettencourt-eddie-van-halen-washburn-bumblebee\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/news\/nuno-bettencourt-eddie-van-halen-washburn-bumblebee\">a custom Bumblebee Washburn guitar<\/a>, and also <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/artists\/guitarists\/watch-nuno-bettencourt-shred-hot-for-teacher-onstage-with-tribute-band-nerd-halen\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/artists\/guitarists\/watch-nuno-bettencourt-shred-hot-for-teacher-onstage-with-tribute-band-nerd-halen\">joined a tribute band to nail the daylights out of <em>Hot For Teacher<\/em><\/a> back in March.
